How a Trauma-Informed Care Approach Depathologizes Mental Health

The key shift in trauma-informed care is moving from asking, “What is wrong with you?” to “What has happened to you?”

What My Clients Say

Rebecca freed me from intensely difficult, uncomfortable and destructive negative thinking. She is truly an expert in her field of work, a warm, genuine and engaging person. I think anyone that receives her mental health and wellbeing support will consider themselves lucky to have found her and will always be grateful for it as I am.

Rebecca is highly skilled at seeing beyond what is initially presented to her. I went to her with anxiety and low mood but over the time she helped me, we worked through previous life trauma that I had experienced such as the death of a close friend and some family difficulties when young."

I will never be able to thank Rebecca enough for the support she gave to me and the improvement she facilitated in my mental health and wellbeing. I always think of things that she said in our sessions even now and will catch myself if I start to think negatively about myself again and remember the guidance Rebecca gave me. One of the biggest gifts she gave me was to encourage me to always come from a place of compassion to others. This is such a powerful force for good that helps myself as much as it helps others. "

Becky is warm, gentle, probing and inquisitive. She gathers information diligently to make an impact on people's lives.
She offers access to detailed information supporting her work with individuals which is, I think, rooted in psychotherapy - a much respected and researched field.
In my experience she tries to go 'over and above' for her clients.
In terms of whether you can trust Becky, in a professional capacity you can be certain that her intentions are good. This is backed up by her words and actions, both in therapy room and outside of it.
Becky is not afraid to share appropriate information about herself within the therapeutic relationship, making building a rapport and having a dialogue a two-way thing, with some integrity.
For anyone considering exploring the genre of private therapy this would make an excellent starting point. Who knows where the journey could take you. Life as we know is a journey and we are all trying our best to navigate it.

Working with Becky (Rebecca) over the last few months has been life changing.

I first met Becky a few months ago when I was at an all time low with my Anxiety. I was struggling with day to day tasks and catastrophising the littlest things. Also avoiding anything where my anxiety would arise. Looking back now just a few months on and I feel a completely different person. Becky went thought several tools and decided to work with me on a CBT approach. This has helped me cope with day to day tasks without the anxiety becoming unbearable and having to avoid a lot of situations. I feel comfortable doing a lot more since meeting Becky. I have gained a lot of confidence in myself and my mental health which has given me much more positivity on life.

Becky clearly has a lot of experience and knowledge with Anxiety and I could not recommend anyone better. I feel so lucky to have come into contact with Becky. It has been a life changing experience.

I met Rebecca when I was signed off from work with severe anxiety and my second child was only 9 months old. I was at such a low ebb I was finding it difficult to leave the house and my self esteem and self worth was extremely low. Rebecca helped me to separate my negative and damaging thinking apart from the reality of who I really was and what I was capable of. Rebecca helped me to spot patterns in my thinking that were stopping me from enjoying my life and from managing my job. Her support and carefully considered therapy ultimately helped me so comprehensively that I was able to go back into the workplace and rebuild myself back up stronger and better than ever before.

When I started my sessions with Becky, I was sceptical. How does talking, crying, being an emotional wreck in front of a complete stranger help me?
Well, I can tell you, Becky’s empathetic approach, constant reassurance and understanding really helped me ease into a vulnerable yet safe space.
I was always greeted with a kind and warming smile, I always felt like she wanted to see me even on the days when I didn’t want to see myself.
On many occasions when I didn’t feel emotionally strong enough to work on my EMDR sessions, Becky listened and acknowledged this, the sessions were for me to feel safe and comfortable, so we often talked about the general things that were on my mind, I know Becky was still analysing and asking the right questions to give me the best support in our sessions, but it never felt like hard work.
At the start of our sessions id come away drained and feeling tearful, this I now understand is a very normal part of the therapy process, I was finally allowing myself to feel the things I had locked away for so long. Becky helped me unlock those scary parts of my past and provided me with the tools to know that they are in the past and can no longer hurt me.
Throughout my sessions I learned so much about myself, that I am brave, strong, intelligent, and loved. I also learnt to love myself! I had gone from crying after most sessions, to leaving feeling, Happy, proud of my self and knowing I had self-worth, towards the end of our sessions I would find me and Becky having a good giggle about the “good type of crazy” things I enjoyed doing.
